Scope

Westbury House, completed for the Phipps family in1906 to designs by the English designer George A. Crawley and the architect Grosvenor Atterbury, was surrounded by 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, over twenty outbuildings, woodlands, ponds and lakes.

Following the failure of some cornice elements, and faced with the chronicc leakage of the original roofing, JHPA, Inc. provided the organization with a conditions assessment and recommendations report to identify the possible sources and levels of deterioration of the roofing, roof flashing and drainage systems, and main roof cornice, and to determine appropriate remedial measures and to identify life safety conditions.  JHPArchitects, PC proceeded to prepare construction documents for the restoration of the elaborate and unusual Collyweston stone tile roof, and the highly articulated terra cotta entablature and cornice.

Since the completion of the roof restoration, JHPA has assisted with numerous other projects at this grand Long Island Gold Coast estate.
