Italian Trade Commission

New York, New York

Scope

The former Hugh Auchincloss mansion is a landmarked 1903 Georgian Revival townhouse designed by the firm of Robertson and Potter. In spite of its conversion into an office; the building retains most of its original architectural fabric and detailing.

JHPA began their relationship with the Italian Trade Commission with the development of a detailed Conditions Assessment and Recommendations Report of the exterior envelope that included recommendations for phased restoration program. The Commission has used the report to establish a long-term plan for funding and repairs to ensure the building envelope is maintained.

Based on the recommendations set forth in the Report, JHPArchitects has assisted the Commission with several phases of masonry, roofing, and skylight restoration addressing the most critical deficiencies with the building envelope while maintaining the historic nature of the building.
