Caumsett State Historic Park
Lloyd Harbor, New York
Scope
Caumsett State Historic Park retains the Main House, Winter Cottage, and several support buildings for the former “Gold Coast” agricultural estate of Marshall Field III, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The site also includes the historic Henry Lloyd Manor House.
This region of Long Island felt the strength and resulting damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ida, which included a small tornado that went directly through the park. As a result, the Winter Cottage, Polo Barn, and the Corn Crib suffered substantial damage.
The services of JHPA, Inc were retained by NYS OGS to prepare documents to complete conditions assessments and restoration documents to address damage to the structures. Work included masonry restoration, structural repairs, and roofing replacement. The work was completed, concurrent with the park again being open and fully accessible to all visitors.
