Pelletreau Silver Shop
Southampton, New York
Scope
Originally constructed in 1686, the Pelletreau Silver Shop, in Southampton, New York, has been moved from its original location, and has undergone at least three major renovations/alterations: one in 1878, another in 1940, and in1966. The extant appearance of the building is intended to replicate the original appearance. Under the careful stewardship of the Southampton Historic Museum, the building still operates as a working shop, in which jewelry is made by hand and sold.
As an aspect of good stewardship, the Southampton Historic Museum enlisted the services of JHPA, Inc. to complete a conditions survey and report for the building.
As a result of the effort, the Southampton Historic Museum now has a guide to undertake interventions, both near and long-range, to ensure that the Pelletreau Silver Shop remains an important landmark for many years.
